with their Business of the Year Trophy
Pointe-Claire, October 23, 2018— Nine companies were recognized at the West Island of Montreal Chamber of Commerce (WIMCC) 2018 Accolades Gala on May 31, 2018. Being recognized in the High Technology & Innovation as well as the Business to Business Services categories helped to solidify ROOT Data Center as the logical choice to become the 2018 WIMCC Business of the Year.
Although this Baie d’Urfé based business officially received the title of Business of the Year at this year’s Accolades Gala at the Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel, the WIMCC organized this special ceremony in the offices of ROOT Data Center in front of a number of their employees. “It’s quite an achievement when you consider that Root Data Center started the process as one of 122 candidates and 30 finalists in the Accolades competition,” said Joseph Huza, President & Executive Director of the CCOIM.
Joseph Huza also noted that “the WIMCC not only recognizes business excellence but it also offers many services including playing an important role in terms of advocating and influencing with respects to issues important to the business community”.
“The Executive committee uses a set of criteria to help guide it to select the company that best exemplifies West Island values which include an active presence in community”, explained Andrew Paquette, President of the WIMCC and President of Groupe Bravo. He added that “ROOT Data Center will join other names such as Laurentide Controls, Walter Surface Technologies and Hewitt as West Island businesses of the year”.
When accepting his trophy, the CEO of ROOT Data Center, A.J. Byers expressed that “This trophy was earned by all of our employees and it would not have been possible without all of them working together. It is an honor and a privilege to lead this company, but also to be part of the team.”
Also present at the ceremony were: Maria Tutino, Mayor of Baie-d’Urfé; Marie-Claude Durand, Manager – Community Relations – Montréal at Hydro-Québec; Jean-Philippe Rousseau, Advisor – Community Relations – Island of Montreal – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec; Mark Hanna, President at Accolade Surfaces and Chairman of the Board of the WIMCC; Annie Baribeau, Senior Account Manager at RBC Royal Bank and Joseph Huza, President & Executive Director of the WIMCC.
